Guitar Cue
Support
Practical help for fretboard training, pitch detection, the metronome, Apple Watch, and purchases.
Contact
For product questions, bug reports, general feedback, or feature suggestions, contact the Guitar Cue developer.
When reporting a problem, include the app version, iPhone model, iOS version, whether Apple Watch is involved, and the steps that reproduce the issue. Do not send recordings or personal information unless support specifically asks for them.
Microphone access
Fretboard exercises and the tuner need microphone permission to analyze live instrument pitch. The metronome can be used without microphone access.
If the app cannot hear the guitar
- Open iPhone Settings, find Guitar Cue, and allow Microphone access.
- Use an acoustic guitar or a clean electric-guitar signal in a quieter room.
- Play one note at a time and let it ring clearly.
- Move the iPhone closer to the instrument without blocking its microphone.
Pitch recognition
The current training flow is designed for standard EADGBE tuning, acoustic guitar, or clean electric guitar. Heavy distortion, overlapping notes, strong room noise, and very short or muted notes can reduce reliability. Recognition sensitivity can be adjusted in Settings.
Pitch alone cannot reveal a unique string and fret. When the same note exists in several places, Guitar Cue shows the valid matching positions instead of guessing which position you used.
Tuner and metronome
Tuner
Use a sustained single note and wait for the reading to settle. A positive cents value is sharp; a negative value is flat.
Metronome
The full tempo range is free: 1–240 BPM on iPhone and 30–240 BPM on Apple Watch. Time signature, subdivision, accent, flash, sound, and haptic feedback vary by device.
Apple Watch
Apple Watch is a companion to the iPhone app, not a separate purchase and not required for core iPhone use. Keep Bluetooth enabled and both devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Final supported controls, synchronization behavior, and watchOS requirements will be confirmed against the release build.
Purchases, restore, and refunds
The planned release uses an optional one-time in-app purchase rather than a subscription. The price displayed by Apple at the time of purchase is authoritative.
Free access includes the tuner, the full metronome range, frets 0–4 note and interval practice, and three shared 20-question note or interval exams per day. Full Practice Access unlocks frets 5–20 note and interval zones plus unlimited 20-, 50-, or 100-question exams.
Use Restore Purchases inside the app after reinstalling or moving to another supported device using the same Apple Account. Apple processes App Store payments and refund requests; refund eligibility is governed by Apple's terms and local law.
Practice data and reset
The current release candidate stores practice progress and settings locally. Deleting the app removes its local app data, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behavior.
